During the civil rights movement African Americans were treated bad. Also, during the reconstruction African Americans were treated horrible as well. African Americans were treated um-human like. They were not given the rights to vote. They faced discrimination all the time. Everywhere they went they would face discrimination. When they would apply for a job they would not get it. If they did want a certain race to be hired they would not hire them. They were also denied the access to places. Such as restaurants, buses, etc. They were also split schools. White and African Americans. They were treated just above slaves. When African Americans were given jobs they got the crappy jobs. Ones that paid to just barely survive. They did not have a wide variety of choices. What ever they can get they took. They would also separate the African Americans with whites. They would have separate theaters, restrooms and transportation.

History

Countries leave most of the pieces of history out because they dont want to make it seem as if they have failed. It is important to let others know the truth and what really happened. We should not be lied to or not told the whole truth. People may not see there losses of wars as bad things or there mistakes as a fail. People can learn from the past mistakes and overcome them or just take a different approach. Everyone is different and may feel a certain way. Countries should not leave any piece of their history out, it is important to know everything that happened in past history.

Does history matter?

History really does matter. Documents and what we learn about in class or from textbooks is the only form of the past we have. Its good for young kids and adults to know and hear bout the past. The wars, all the documents. slavery all that happened in the past should be known in our world today. The people now could learn from the mistakes others have made in the past. History is really important and should keep being told about and spoke about.

Cowboys in movies are fake! Living the life of a cowboy is not easy. Its more of a job rather than a part on a tv show. Cowboys take care of the ranches. Taking care of them are not easy. The duties of a cowboy are care for the ranch, have great skills, and physically fit. These are not all the skills cowboys needed to have to be a great skilled cowboy. Here is what their daily lives were like in the past.

First, Care for the ranch. Cowboys had to take care of the ranch. They were needed to take care of the cattle also help cure them. Sometimes animals would get cuts or even big wounds. Cowboys were needed to cure them and keep them healthy. Cowboys would work under any weather condition. Rainy, sunny, and cold they were out doing their job. Cowboys needed to create things they needed. For example, Stables, signs and any other useful material they needed. Most of their work required physical fitness but also had to use their brain for a few things. Such as navigate through places in order to find a certain place. Also, to find animals.

Second, cowboys were required to have a variety of skills. Cowboys were known for their skills for all around things. Such as nursing, navigating, and physical labor. There are much more than just that. The cowboys were a nurse to the animals that were wounded. Cowboys were needed to keep the animals healthy in order to produce the things that they needed. Also cowboys were known for adapting to their surroundings very quickly. When they would travel the cowboys would need to use their natural resources around them to get them through to their destination. They were good navigators as well. They would know where they were going without a map or a gps. They recognized familiar areas that they have traveled in. The cowboys also needed skills in working with wood. They were needed to build the things they needed. Such as wagons, fences and many other things that were needed around the ranch.

Last, Cowboys needed to be physically fit. Cowboys were needed to get food a supply for their families. Sometimes they would not even get the portion of food that they hoped for. Most of the time they would just eat a lot of beans. The cowboys needed to do physical labor such as building things that they needed. They also needed to be able to ride horses and cattle. Cowboys were needed to maintain the ranch. They worked in any weather condition whether it was cold, sunny, rainy, or gloomy. They worked to maintain posture. Cowboys are also known for keeping the animals in good condition. If the animals were in need of medical attention they would need to treat them in any way possible. Most of the times the animals that were injured had minor scrapes and the cowboys would have to cure them. Sometimes they were severely injured and would have to deal with that situation.

In, conclusion, caring for the ranch, having great skills, and being physically fit are all what cowboys had. Having the job of a cowboy was not a easy task. It required strength and great skills. A daily life of a cowboy was working all day and making sure things were correctly organized. If any of the animals were injured they would have to cure the animal in any way that it could. Cowboys in movies live an easy life but do not show the struggles the cowboy encounters in real life.

to blog or not to blog

I agree and disagree with the blogging assessment system for many reasons. The pros of the blogging system are, it can help students work on their writing, and it prepares students for college requirements. The negative side of the blogging system is, it can affect our grades and not knowing what to write after I have proved my point.
First, blogging helps us students work on our writing. In most of my classes we do not write much. Besides taking notes and taking tests. Blogging takes us out of our usual rutein and makes us do something extra. The last time I wrote an essay was last year. This year I am asked to do so every week as a graded assignment. Also as Mr. Meechin said, we can send colleges our writing. What is better than sending a million blog topics and weekly articles to the college we apply for? My writing is not the best but doing blogs helps me work on my writing.

Next, Blogging prepares students for college requirements. Students like myself are all use to writing short little paragraphs as a requirement for a class assignment. The weekly article is an assignment that challenges many of us to expand our writing. It makes us go into details and specifics instead of being broad. 600 words minimum is our weekly assignment. I thought Mr. Meechin was crazy when he said this. Two blog topics plus a weekly article. From what I have heard essays are done weekly. Us students our in a habit of doing broad paragraph assignments. This also helps improve and give us an idea of what we will be doing in college. We will be using our computers for every assignment. We will be doing a lot of researching and writing essays on what we have researched.

After, weekly blogging can affect our grades. Blogging can affect our grades in many ways. For example not being use to the amount of writing done at home is stressful on students. When I was told that I had to write 600 words each week on a topic that I did not find easy I just decided not to do them. Two days before the quarter ends I realize now that the weekly article is a big part of our grades so I have no choice but to do them. Also, there are times where every teacher gives us an assignment and we have to get it done by a certain day but, there is no room for students to finish all assignments at once because there is just to much. Although we have a whole quarter to finish all the blogs that are assigned students tend to get lazy and forget they have these assignments that are due. Also, I work nearly every day and I have no time to myself. So the time that I do get to relax is spent on sleeping and not on the blogs.

Last, not knowing what to write about after I have proved my point. We are assigned to write a 600 word essay on a certain topic that most of us do not like. For example, there is a girl in my class who does all her work and pays attention to every detail that is said. She says the weekly articles are easy but not enough information to give about the certain topic. I believe the weekly articles should be cut down to 400 words minimum. After proving our points why should we keep typing about things we do not even know about what we are writing about? Students add extra information that is not necessary. They are just trying to get to a certain limit.

In, Conclusion, blogging helps with our writing, helps us prepare for college, blogging affects our grades, and lastly adding extra unwanted information are all reasons why blogging helps and does not help us students. I believe there should be blogs but cut the weekly articles down to 400.

Equal

I believe there is no difference between writing on paper and typing it on the computer but, I prefer typing. I think writing two blogs on two pieces a paper is a waist of paper. Why would you want to write it when you can just type it? We have technology for a reason. Why not use it? I would also type it than write it cause my hand writing is messy and you will not understand what I am writing.

Oregon trail

I do not like blogging but it is much better than writing it on pen and paper. But my favorite blog topic of first quarter is playing Oregon trail. Oregon trail isnt a fun game but is an addicting game. It tells the life of a journey that a family takes. Also teaches that strategies are important if you wanted to make it to your destination. This is my favorite because it gave me a chance to play a game rather than having to think of what I have to write about. Kind of what I am doing now.
